Opinion| Mark Sidney| Frankly, I am surprised that we have not seen a lot more of this since Trump was elected.
The Democratic Party has gone so far left in the last 11 years or so, that Carl Marx himself would be at risk of becoming a victim of the left’s toxic ‘cancel culture’, for not being communist enough!
Whether it is open borders, ‘free’ healthcare for illegals, abortion after birth (known by rational humans as ‘infanticide’), or gun confiscation, under threat of domestic nuclear war, the Dems are just … out there.
Because of this, it came as little surprise to me to hear about New Jersey’s, Jeff Van Drew.
According to the Conservative Treehouse:
‘Jeff Van Drew is a democrat congressman from New Jersey CD-02. According to multiple media reports he is likely to switch to the republican party next week due to the fraudulent impeachment effort. Van Drew was one of two democrats who did not support the vote for the impeachment inquiry.
According to Politico Democrat leadership are in a panic and urgently trying to get ahold of Van Drew. The optics of a democrat changing parties at the same time they are trying to sell the validity of an impeachment narrative are terrible.’
Politico’s report went on to state:
[…] Van Drew’s congressional and campaign staff were informed he was planning to switch parties on Saturday, according to Democratic sources. The question was now when, not if, Van Drew was joining the Republican Party, according to several Democrats with knowledge of the ongoing conversations.
As of Saturday afternoon, it was still unclear if Van Drew would make the announcement before the House votes on impeachment, which is expected Wednesday.
“It was supposed to be bipartisan, it was supposed to be incontrovertible. It was supposed to be something that was always on the rarest of circumstances,” Van Drew told reporters about impeachment earlier this week. “Well it’s not bipartisan.”’
It seems that instead of hoisting himself, and the nation, upon the spear of authoritarianism, Mr. Van Drew has chosen sanity instead.
While we applaud his courage, we also warn him that the Republican party is still filled with a bunch of self-serving political animals who will do and say anything for more power and/or money.
We still have some good men and women in the party, such as Mr. Gaetz, Jordan, Nunes, to name a few, let’s hope we can add Van Drew to this list as well.
I pray that the Congressman can be the catalyst for many more Democrats abandoning the misguided party.
Either the Democratic Party reforms itself from within and comes back to the middle, renounces the radical Marxists in the caucus, members chose to leave and thus strip the party of its power, or, God forbid the Dems every gain power again, our nation, and likely the entire world, are headed for some very, very dark days …
